Audiology
The audiologist provides: assessments of hearing status, hearing aid programming, earmold impressions and auditory training. The audiologist also organizes a program to support and document the hearing status of students and to develop strategies to support students and their families in developing effective communication using residual hearing. Auditory training sessions are available for those who benefit from direct teaching and practice of discrete listening skills. The audiologist communicates with students in ASL to ensure understanding of tasks and to reduce communication frustration.
The audiologist is also a member of the MSD Resource Team and is available for consultation and some limited assessment of Deaf and hard of hearing students throughout the province of Manitoba.
