Welcome
The Manitoba School for the Deaf (MSD) is located on the northwest perimeter of the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  MSD
is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school and students, who communicate and learn using American Sign Language (ASL), are fortunate to have the opportunity to attend this uniquely inclusive school.  At the Manitoba School for the Deaf we offer a bilingual-bicultural environment, with ASL as the language of instruction.  ASL is not ‘signed’ English, but rather a separate language with distinct structures and grammar.  We believe that the recognition and acceptance of ASL and Deaf Culture provides a valuable foundation for the development of self-esteem in our students.

MISSION STATEMENT:

MSD is committed to providing a bilingual, bicultural environment, thereby promoting academic excellence and the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of school-aged Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
